About the event

PLEASE NOTE: we are an approved provider of CE Credits for clinical psychologists in the state of New York. At this time we cannot provide CE credits to any other form of mental health professional. However, if you are not a licensed doctoral level clinician in the state of New York you can still attend this course out of interest by purchasing a "General Admission" ticket.

Topic: This course covers the topic of neurodivergent couples therapy, explores the specific issues that arise between neurodiverse partners and identifies helpful interventions to be applied to treating this specific population.

Course Description: More neurodivergent couples are seeking couples therapy treatment to address relationship issues related to difficulties in communicating, differences in sensory experiences, and emotion expression. However, there is a need for therapists to become acquainted with various ways of communicating and intervening with neurodiverse individuals that are not typically taught explicitly in psychology training programs. This 120-minute course consists of lecture and discussion on the topic of treating neurodiverse individuals in the couples therapy context. Common misconceptions of neurodiverse individuals’ needs in a relationship context will be addressed and relevant, updated research will be discussed.

Location, Date & Time: Virtual (via Zoom), Thursday August 1, 2024, 1pm-3pm*

Note: if you are unable to join us live, you can obtain your CE credit via self study but purchasing a "Self Study" ticket. You will receive a video recording to watch and quiz to complete after the event.
